Hobby Lobby Corporate Office

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Hobby Lobby is a company founded on the desire to share their blessings with employees and invest in the community through charitable giving and Christian ministry. So when they outgrew their corporate offices, they wanted to build something that would maximize value while providing for the continued functions and growth of a world-class retailer. And they wanted to do it all without incurring any long-term debt.

Spears | Lamb - mha, doing business as Mike Hughes Architects, helped realize those goals with the first phase of a new office complex in Oklahoma City: a three-floor, 143,000 square-foot building. The exterior façade pairs a traditional limestone veneer with expansive, contemporary glass elements. As you enter through either end of the central lobby, you can’t help notice the dramatic, monumental, steel and glass stairway leading to curvilinear walkways bridging the east and west wings on the second and third floors. The clerestory windows help bring natural light into this expansive space, while the central, landscaped Light Courts provide both natural lighting and dramatic views from conference rooms and elevators on every floor.

As the first phase of an office complex, future plans envision two additional buildings flanking and complementing the primary structure. This world-class office complex should help facilitate the growth of one of America’s largest privately held companies as they continue to aggressively expand into untapped markets.
